The classic herringbone lay in waterproof LVT. Shorter planks set at ninety degrees give a room direction and a sense of craft, and because it is vinyl rather than timber you can run the same floor from the hallway straight through into the kitchen without changing material.

Left and right planks supplied in pairs
Herringbone needs mirrored planks to close correctly; every pack contains a matched set, which removes the most common cause of a lay going out of alignment.
Forgiving of an imperfect subfloor
Shorter planks bridge minor undulations far better than long boards, so an older subfloor usually needs less preparation than a plank floor would demand.
