US Cloud service company, Dropbox has chosen a wood flooring design, from Kährs Grande Collection, for its new EMEA headquarters in Dublin. The rustic, one-strip wood floor – Oak Casa – has been installed throughout the canteen and barista café within the project. Located within Park Place, in Dublin’s thriving business district, the new sustainable offices rank as a new standard in European Office Development. Designed by IA, New York in collaboration with MOLA Architecture, Dublin, the Dropbox interior has a simplistic design, featuring pale wall tones, patterned retro-style feature walls and contemporary timber fittings and furnishings. Kährs Oak Casa – with its warm tone and lively graining – provides a stunning contrast and flows seamlessly throughout the space.

The outstanding ambience of the restaurant has been defined by the architectural signature of Dula-Werke Dustmann GmbH & Co. KG. 170m2 of Kahrs Oak CD creme makes a perfect match to the classy interior of the restaurant.

TC TRAINING CENTRE

The floor specified for the TC Training Centre was originally a laminate. However, the performance and visual benefits of a hardwood floor convinced the owners to invest in a genuine wood product. Other advantages included fast and simple installation, with easy cleaning and minimum ongoing maintenance. Flooring contractor, HolzMaXX, installed 100 square metres of Kährs Hard Maple Ontario and 450 squares metres of Cherry Santa Barbara throughout the facility. Choice of floor: Hard Maple Ontario and Cherry Santa Barbara

HÄSTENS SHOWROOM

Founded in 1852, Hästens is Sweden’s oldest bed manufacturer. Craftsmanship and quality are synonymous with the company, where beds are still handmade, using only natural filling materials. Loved by cottage and palace dwellers alike, Hästens has had the honour of being the supplier of beds to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden since 1952. For the design of the company’s showroom in Newport Beach, California, a vibrant Ash Kalmar floor was chosen for its Scandinavian feel.

JAMIE’S ITALIAN

Owned by renowned TV chef, Jamie Oliver, this restaurant is located on Lendal, in the centre of York. During restoration, many striking original features were uncovered and preserved, including Tudor roof trusses and exposed brick walls.

CLARION AMARANTEN

Nordic Choice Hotels bought Hotel Amaranten in 2013 and has since renovated the hotel’s 461 rooms, restaurant and spa area. Tengbom Architects was commissioned to refurbish the hotel that is situated in Kungsholmen, Central Stockholm. Clarion wanted to reposition the hotel to become a personal and conscious business and leisure hotel. Materials, colors and shapes were chosen to represent 60th century character with a modern touch. Various rooms feature the parquet styled Kährs Oak Palazzo Fumo to reflect both heritage & modernism.

AREA 8

When Mikaela Bandini moved to Sassi di Matera 23 years ago, she has never dreamed of owning one of the most popular bar’s in Italy. But that’s exactly what happened. Area 8 is a multi-functional space that houses an agency and production house by day and a café and theatre by night. A unique and very liquid project that aims at experimentation in all fields of communication, digital photography, marketing and cinematography. As head of Area8 Mikaela Bandini chose Arbusto Collection, Oak Canus, because it underlines perfectly the flair of these unique rooms.
